New Hyundai Tucson 2027

Last week, fresh spy shots of the new Korean crossover were published online, giving us reason to imagine what the newcomer will look like.
The compact Tucson crossover, named after the American city of Tucson (Arizona), was first introduced in 2004, sharing its platform with the Elantra and Kia Sportage. Today, the fourth generation of the SUV is rolling off the production line, having made its debut in autumn 2020, with a facelifted version unveiled three years later.

In its fifth generation, the model will adopt a completely different appearance, as evidenced by photographs of test prototypes. The body will become more angular and will bear a strong resemblance to the larger Santa Fe SUV: there is almost identical glazing at the front with 'hidden' pillars, similar styling of the wheel arches with trapezoidal stampings, and nearly flat side panels. At the same time, the front end will be entirely original, thanks to headlights positioned in the bumper and vertical LED daytime running light strips. Most likely, a horizontal strip of running lights will also be placed between them. The rear lights will follow a similar design language: for now, slightly angled fragments of the rear lighting can be seen through the camouflage, while the tailgate may be styled in the manner of the new Elantra/Avante saloon. The number plate will be mounted on the rear bumper; furthermore, the crossover is depicted with one of the new wheel design options.

As for the technical side, we can expect the arrival of new or revised hybrid powertrains, including plug-in variants. The current Tucson in hybrid guise is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor with a combined output of 265 bhp (350 Nm). In the next generation, the range will be joined by a top-spec N variant with a similar powertrain based on a new engine of the same displacement, with combined output potentially exceeding 300 bhp.

The premiere of the new Hyundai Tucson is expected within this year. Meanwhile, a month ago, the next-generation Hyundai i20 hatchback made its debut.
