New Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover gets several powertrain options. Prices revealed

Order books for the German marque's entry-level SUV on the European market have already opened, with the base 'green' version priced at €48,600. Prices for the hybrids will be announced at a later date.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled its entry-level soft-roader, christened the GLA, back in 2013. It underwent its first generational change at the end of 2019, and received a planned facelift in the spring of 2023. Last autumn, spy photographers caught prototypes of the new soft-roader during road testing, and based on those images, our designer Nikita Chuyko speculated on what the next crossover might look like. Now, the German manufacturer has fully revealed the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA and published its prices.

The new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA features a traditional five-door body with a slightly sloping roofline, pressed creases on the bonnet and flanks, conventional exterior mirrors, flush door handles, roof rails, and a body kit of glossy black plastic around the perimeter, including rounded wheel-arch claddings. The range of available alloy wheel sizes spans from 18 to 20 inches.

The front end of the soft-roader has gained new headlights with a pattern resembling the brand's signature three-pointed stars. Below this, on the hybrid versions, sits a large radiator grille with a dense surround, chrome slats and stars, as well as a prominent badge. The electrically powered versions get an illuminated blanking panel of similar shape with a pixel-style pattern.

Three air intakes are integrated into the lower section of the new GLA's front bumper, while the rear has been adorned by the designers with a neat spoiler at the top of the tailgate incorporating a high-level brake light, tail lamps joined by a light bar with a three-pointed star light signature, vertical reflector strips, and a diffuser in the lower section of the rear bumper. The mounting point for the number plate now sits on the bumper rather than on the tailgate.

The overall length of the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA is 4,565 mm (153 mm longer than its predecessor), the width is 1,873 mm (39 mm wider), the height is 1,604 mm (20 mm lower), and the wheelbase measures 2,790 mm (61 mm longer). Boot capacity for the new model stands at 410 litres (70 litres more than the 'second' GLA). With the rear bench folded flat, this can be extended to 1,400 litres. Additionally, the fully electric GLA features a further storage compartment of 107 litres under the bonnet.

The interior borrows heavily from the CLA. In front of the driver sits a three-spoke steering wheel with a slightly flattened rim, while the dashboard of the top-spec versions is dominated by a display housing three screens, flanked by the brand's signature turbine-style air vents. The digital instrument cluster measures 10.25 inches diagonally, while the central touchscreen for the infotainment system and the touch display for the front passenger are both 14 inches. Optional extras include the Sky Control panoramic roof with adjustable transparency and a Burmester 3D sound system with 16 speakers.

For now, the 'third' Mercedes-Benz GLA is available solely with fully electric powertrains. The entry-level version is the GLA 200, which features a 224 bhp electric motor (torque: 335 Nm) mounted on the front axle, along with a lithium iron phosphate traction battery with a capacity of 58 kWh. This variant takes 8.1 seconds to sprint from standstill to 62 mph. The maximum driving range is 447 km (calculated according to the WLTP cycle).

The GLA 250+ and GLA 350 4Matic variants are equipped with a nickel-manganese-cobalt battery with a capacity of 85 kWh; in the former case, the model is powered by a 272 bhp electric motor (335 Nm), while the latter features a dual-motor setup with a combined output of 354 bhp (515 Nm). The mid-range variant takes 7.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph, while the all-wheel-drive model does it in 5.4 seconds. The top speed across all versions is capped at 130 mph.

The maximum range for the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250+ is 657 km, while the current flagship GLA 350 4Matic manages 643 km (WLTP cycle). The German marque's press office noted that in early 2027, the range will also be joined by a version featuring a nickel-manganese-cobalt traction battery with a capacity of 71 kWh.

Furthermore, hybrid versions will join the line-up at a later stage. It is known that the system will be based around a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which will work in tandem with a 30 bhp electric motor integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox; the setup also includes a battery with a capacity of 1.3 kWh. Official details regarding this system will be released in due course.

European dealers today, 30 July 2026, have already begun taking orders for the new model, and the prices for the 'green' versions have been confirmed. On the home market in Germany, the entry-level Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 is priced at €48,600 (equivalent to roughly 4.46 million roubles at the current exchange rate), the mid-spec GLA 250+ will set buyers back €54,978 (around 5.04 million roubles), and the flagship GLA 350 4Matic is priced at €58,108 (around 5.33 million roubles).
