Korea Road Traffic Authority TBN Daegu Traffic Broadcasting, 30th Special Broadcast for 27th Anniversary of Opening
Korea Road Traffic Authority's TBN Daegu Traffic Broadcasting will mark its 27th anniversary tomorrow (30th) with a special broadcast.
This year's anniversary special will feature a range of traffic safety content showcasing the strengths of a specialist traffic broadcaster, alongside storytelling programmes that vividly capture the region's unique character, running for ten hours from 7am to 11am and 2pm to 8pm.
The 'Special Start: Daegu Grand March' programme, airing from 7am, will engage with citizens on the theme of public transport. Auto Times journalist Park Hong-jun will share behind-the-scenes stories, such as the etymology of the word 'bus' and the standard time that originated from railways. Listeners will also hear from Daegu city bus drivers about the various episodes they have experienced while driving.
At 9am, the 'Special Studio 1039' will explore Daegu's future vision alongside a celebratory concert. Baritone Woo Jung-hoon, a former Phantom Singer contestant, will perform a 27th anniversary concert accompanied by piano and violin. The programme will also continue its series, which began earlier this month, of hearing from the heads of the 9th popularly elected basic local governments about their visions for the region's future.
The 'Special TBN Cha Cha Cha', starting at 2pm, will take the form of a celebratory concert featuring trot singers. Singer Yoon Soo-il, who achieved a remarkable chart resurgence thanks to global star Rosé, and Maijin, beloved by the public for her powerful vocals and friendly image, will deliver a live show to mark the anniversary.
In the special programme 'Daeprika! Really?', airing at 4pm, listeners will be invited to discuss the topic of Daegu's heat. The programme will explore why Daegu became such a hot city, what efforts are being made to shed its reputation as the hottest city, and various anecdotes related to the heat in Daegu.
The 'Special Running Radio', broadcast for two hours from 6pm, will examine various stories related to road safety. An expert will shed light on drivers' psychology regarding traffic laws, and listeners will reveal the 'Top 5 factors that hinder driving' as chosen by the audience themselves.
Shin Ki-beom, head of the Korea Road Traffic Authority's TBN Daegu Traffic Broadcasting, said: "Daegu Traffic Broadcasting, which first went on air in 1999, has reached its 27th year thanks to the support and interest shown by Daegu citizens." He added: "We will continue to bring you the stories of the region, including traffic and safety, from the closest possible vantage point."
Korea Road Traffic Authority's TBN Daegu Traffic Broadcasting, which first transmitted its signal in 1999, is a specialist terrestrial radio station for traffic. It can be listened to on FM 103.9MHz in Daegu and FM 95.9MHz in Gimcheon, as well as via the smartphone app 'tbn Traffic Broadcasting'.
