Представлен уникальный шутинг-брейк на базе Ferrari 599 GTB от Niels van Roij Design

A new project by the talented Dutch designer Niels van Roij is called the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage, and it pays tribute to the one-off Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Shooting Brake from 1972, recreating its key stylistic elements.

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Shooting Brake was built for a wealthy client by Luigi Chinetti Jr., the Ferrari dealer in the United States. Now Niels van Roij, known to our readers for projects such as the Volvo P1800 ES Norrsken restomod and a convertible based on the modern Land Rover Defender 90, has carried out a similar exercise.

More than 15,000 hours have gone into producing the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage, and the scale of the bodywork undertaken is enormous: from the original Ferrari 599 GTB coupé of the late 2000s, only the side doors remain. All other exterior body panels are new, and the headlights and rear lights on the shooting brake are also unique.

The main feature of the new body is an elegant luggage compartment with a fixed transparent rear wall and two upward-opening side roofs in the style of gullwing doors. Structurally, the luggage area is divided into two sections with different floor heights, trimmed in carbon fibre, onto which aluminium load rails have been applied. The interior has been completely reupholstered in soft cognac-coloured leather, while the dashboard has been redesigned to match the historic prototype: the instrument cluster has been moved to the centre — not entirely practical, but certainly original and historically faithful.

Niels van Roij Design has not disclosed any details about the technical specification of the shooting brake. It is likely standard: the Ferrari 599 GTB coupé is powered by a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 (620 bhp, 608 Nm) mated to a 6-speed automated manual gearbox sending all power to the rear wheels, with a 0-100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed in excess of 330 km/h.

Interestingly, the delivery package for the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage includes a bespoke three-piece suit, but it is not intended for the car's client; rather, it is for Niels van Roij himself. The suit will remain in the design studio, and Niels van Roij will wear it for meetings with future clients and collectors.

The price of the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage has not been disclosed, but it is clearly enormous — most likely several million euros. A second example will not be built, but Niels van Roij would gladly create other unique shooting brakes or automotive masterpieces with different body styles for other wealthy clients.
