The production run for the 'hot' version of the Japanese hatchback has been announced: the company plans to sell just 730 units worldwide.

The current Toyota Corolla has a 'hot' version with the GR prefix: this variant debuted in 2022, and by 2023 the hatchback had already received its first technical upgrade, with further updates a year later. The hot hatch, intended for the domestic market, was refreshed again in September 2025, with changes to the bodywork, engine cooling system and acoustics. Recently, a new 'hot' variant has been revealed – the Toyota GRMN Corolla.

Previously, Kolesa.ru reported that the Japanese company intended to produce this variant in a limited run, but the exact number was not specified by the manufacturer. Now, the brand's American office has announced that a total of 730 examples of the GRMN Corolla will be built, which Toyota plans to sell worldwide. Each car will feature a plaque indicating its series membership.

In addition, the price of the limited-edition hot hatch has been revealed. In the US, it will cost at least $64,360, equivalent to approximately 5.14 million roubles at the current exchange rate. For comparison, the price of a 'standard' Toyota GR Corolla hatchback currently ranges from $40,520 to $46,565 (around 3.24 to 3.72 million roubles).

For context, the Toyota GRMN Corolla was developed by engineers from the GR (Gazoo Racing) performance division. It features an aggressive carbon fibre aerodynamic body kit, which increases downforce at high speeds and improves cooling for the engine and brakes. The bonnet has an additional transverse vent, and the front wings feature ventilation 'grilles' above the wheel arches. Furthermore, an adjustable rear spoiler is mounted on the tailgate.

To reduce weight, the developers removed the rear seats from the GRMN Corolla, while new front seats have been fitted – in the US version, these are more sporty but similar in shape to the standard ones (whereas the Japanese hot hatch gets full bucket seats). The dashboard of the new model is trimmed in suede and features an embroidered Morizo signature: as we noted earlier, this is the racing pseudonym of Akio Toyoda, Chairman of the Board of Toyota and the figurehead of the GR performance sub-brand.

The Toyota GRMN Corolla receives a revised suspension: it gets special adjustable monotube dampers with powerful rebound springs for maximum tyre contact with the road, along with a recalibrated electric power steering system and all-wheel drive system featuring a power take-off coupling to the rear axle. The hot hatch is shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres in size 245/40 ZR18 (10 mm wider than those on the 'standard' GR Corolla hatchback).

Under the bonnet of the new model lies a modified 1.6-litre petrol turbocharged three-cylinder engine, the G16E-GTS. Its power output remains unchanged at 304 bhp, but peak torque has been increased from 400 Nm to 410 Nm. The engine is paired exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Sales of the Toyota GRMN Corolla in the US market will begin in late summer 2026. It is known that buyers will be able to participate in a professional-level driving tuition programme (lasting one year).
