Линейку Jetta готовится пополнить новый седан M6: первые подробности

The four-door model from the brand within the FAW-Volkswagen portfolio will receive a fully electric powertrain.

Nowadays, the name Jetta refers not only to the global saloon from the German marque Volkswagen, but also to a separate budget brand under which models are produced aimed primarily at the Chinese market. Production of the cars is set up in China at the facilities of the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. A new model is currently being prepared for its premiere – the fully electric Jetta M6 saloon.

Unofficial images of the model without camouflage have appeared in the database of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Judging by them, the new model will feature styling that differs noticeably both from the current VA3 and VA7 saloons and from the Jetta X concept presented in April 2026. However, the design can hardly be called truly original: as Chinese internet users and foreign media have rightly pointed out, the front end bears a strong resemblance to the current Tesla Model 3 saloon.

The Jetta M6 features a sloping bonnet with pressed creases, angular headlights of a relatively narrow shape, and a small trapezoidal air intake integrated into the lower section of the front bumper, along with a pair of vertical air ducts on either side. The model gets black plastic inserts on the side panels and on the lower part of the rear bumper (with narrow horizontal reflectors built into the element).

The four-door also gets conventional exterior mirrors, semi-flush door handles, a chrome strip running along the lower edge of the side glazing, two roof design options, and a full-width light bar extending from one rear wing to the other across the entire width of the boot lid. The Jetta M6 will be offered with three wheel designs to choose from, in 17- and 18-inch sizes.

The overall length of the new saloon is 4,806 mm, the width is 1,868 mm, the height is 1,500 mm, and the wheelbase is 2,820 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the current Jetta VA7 four-door are 4,773 x 1,789 x 1,469 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,731 mm. And since we're on the subject, the Tesla Model 3 measures 4,720 x 1,850 x 1,440 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.

According to data from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology database, the Jetta M6 will be available with two fully electric powertrain options. In both cases, it's a single electric motor, so all-wheel drive for this model appears not to be offered. The maximum output of the 'lesser' motor is 154 bhp, while the 'greater' one delivers 197 bhp. Information on the traction battery capacity and range on a single charge is not yet available.

For the record, in April 2026 the Volkswagen Group outlined its plans for China: it was anticipated that more than 20 electrified models would appear here this year, and by 2030 that number is expected to rise to 50 under the plan. Of these, four new models will come to the Jetta brand by 2028. One of the upcoming models will be a crossover based on the aforementioned Jetta X concept. The production version is expected to go on sale in China before the end of this year.
