Lamborghini wins top Red Dot Award 2026 with ‘Fenomeno’
Automobili Lamborghini has won the 'Best of the Best 2026' award, the highest accolade in the Product Design category of the Red Dot Award, with its 'Fenomeno' – a few-off model of which only 29 examples will be built.
Mitja Borkert, Design Director of Automobili Lamborghini, said: "This meaningful and prestigious award once again confirms the direction of the design DNA we are building together with the Lamborghini Centro Stile team, and is an important achievement that supports our future strategy. The Fenomeno is a style manifesto that expands our design language in unexpected ways. It surpasses expectations while sportily and elegantly continuing the lineage of successful limited-edition models. It is a project that looks to the future while further strengthening Lamborghini's design tradition."
The Red Dot Award, a prestigious ceremony in the field of industrial design, evaluates the innovation and excellence of thousands of entries from around the world each year across three categories: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept. Among these, the 'Best of the Best' is the highest honour, awarded only to works that set new standards in quality, creativity, and vision. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 7th July at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany.
The Fenomeno is a model that opens a new chapter in Lamborghini's design language. It celebrates the 20th anniversary of the founding of Centro Stile while introducing a new concept of 'hyper-elegant' design. It is characterised by reducing every element to its essence, combining formal purity with the highest level of functionality.
The front end reveals a powerful presence through large racing-style air intakes and a completely redesigned daytime running light (DRL) signature. In particular, a design element inspired by the horn of the bull used in the Lamborghini logo has been applied. Furthermore, reflecting Lamborghini's iconic design elements, including the Y-shaped graphic, it visually connects the carbon fibre front splitter with the sharply designed headlamps.
The side silhouette is defined by a single, continuous character line that runs across the entire vehicle. This offers a modern reinterpretation of Lamborghini's distinctive silhouette while evoking the longtail design of the Essenza SCV12. The launch livery colour, Giallo Crius, emphasises the upper volumes, while the lower carbon fibre elements and aerodynamic devices derived from racing technology actively contribute to performance enhancement.
