BAIC announces Arcfox Alpha T7 crossover: sporty image and likely affordable

The new Arcfox SUV will be offered as either a hybrid or a fully electric vehicle. The model will hit the domestic market before the end of this year.

In 2026, the BAIC-owned brand Arcfox began updating its model lineup. In March, the revamped Alpha S5 (or αS5) saloon was launched on the domestic market. Spring also saw the debut of the production Wendao V9 MPV and the S3 four-door model, while sales of the facelifted T1 hatchback started in June. Now, another premiere has been announced – the brand-new Arcfox Alpha T7 (or αT7) crossover. The marque has so far shared just a few images of the SUV. However, the crossover's certification has already been filed with the local Ministry of Industry and Information Technology database, so the key specifications are known. But first, let's take a look at the design.

The Arcfox Alpha T7 is clearly aimed at a younger audience – the SUV has a sporty image. The sporty look comes from the air intakes located beneath the compact headlights and on the front wings, as well as a large spoiler on the tailgate. In addition, 21-inch wheels (including some with bright orange inserts) and yellow brake callipers are available.

Other exterior features include a light bar with LED 'notches' and numerous LED dots that serves as daytime running lights, a full-width rear light bar (also with a pattern of diode 'dust'), and semi-flush door handles. Finally, according to the certification, the crossover can be equipped with an advanced autopilot system featuring a lidar above the windscreen. Incidentally, the brand has announced that IT giant Huawei is among its suppliers. So it's possible that the driver assistance suite comes from this company.

The crossover measures 5,020 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. The interior has not yet been revealed. However, it is known that the Arcfox Alpha T7 is strictly a five-seater.

The new SUV will be available with either a hybrid or a fully electric powertrain. The first version features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (105 hp) acting as a generator, paired with a 272 hp electric motor. The electric version gets a 309 hp motor. According to preliminary data, the electric motors are located on the rear axle. The batteries come from CATL, but their capacity has not yet been disclosed.

The Arcfox Alpha T7 will hit the domestic market before the end of this year. The brand is known for its rather attractive pricing. The top versions of the new crossover, with their striking looks, are expected to be priced in the region of 150,000 to 200,000 yuan (approximately £16,500 to £22,000 at current exchange rates). For comparison, the 'youth-oriented' Xiaomi YU7 and Aito M6 crossovers currently start from 233,500 yuan and 229,800 yuan respectively (from around £25,700 and £25,300).
