Mercedes-AMG unveils the final hot hatch, the 'A 45 S 4MATIC+ Final Edition
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the 'A 45 S 4MATIC+ Final Edition', the last model of the current fourth-generation A-Class. The A 45 S was the model that recorded the highest output among production four-cylinder turbocharged engines when it was unveiled in 2019.
The Final Edition exterior colours can be chosen between MANUFAKTUR Mountain Grey Magno or Night Black. It is fitted with 19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels in matt black with wheel covers featuring yellow AMG logos. The chrome fuel filler cap features AMG lettering. The 'AMG Night Package II' can be selected as an optional specification.
The AMG Performance seats are finished in black artificial leather and microcut microfibre material. Yellow stitching is applied to the seats, door panels, door sills, AMG floor mats and the AMG Performance steering wheel. The '45 S' emblem is embroidered on the seat headrests and centre console.
The optional AMG Aerodynamics Package consists of an enlarged front splitter, side flicks, a roof spoiler and rear diffuser blades. The dedicated components, developed in the wind tunnel, improve high-speed driving stability.
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, hand-assembled according to the 'One Man, One Engine' principle, delivers a maximum output of 421 hp and peak torque of 51.0 kgf·m. The A 45 S 4MATIC+ accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, with a limited top speed of 270 km/h. It is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and features the AMG Torque Control all-wheel-drive system, which variably distributes power to the rear wheels.
The next fifth-generation A-Class is expected to be launched in 2028. It will be designed based on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), similar in configuration to the new CLA, and is expected to feature pure electric and hybrid powertrains.
