Lamborghini to unveil high-performance SUV with over 800 bhp on 1 July
Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini is set to unveil a new version of its SUV model, the Urus, on 1 July. The Urus, a large SUV that holds the title of the best-selling model in Lamborghini’s lineup, was first introduced in 2017.
The Urus joined Lamborghini’s range—previously composed solely of two-door mid-engined models—as a four-door coupé-style SUV, driving the brand’s quantitative growth. By retaining Lamborghini’s distinctive design and driving character while offering everyday practicality, it has helped attract a new customer base to the brand.
The current Urus lineup consists of the Urus, Urus S, Urus Performante, and Urus SE. The newly unveiled model is expected to be the ‘Urus SE Performante’, a high-performance plug-in hybrid variant. The existing Urus SE combines a 4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined system output of 800 horsepower and a maximum torque of 96.9 kgf·m.
The upcoming Urus SE Performante is anticipated to feature enhanced power performance, with total output likely exceeding 800 horsepower. The front exterior is expected to incorporate newly designed headlamps and a reshaped bumper, while the rear spoiler design will also be revised to differentiate it from the current model. In addition, suspension performance is expected to be recalibrated to match the increased power output.
Following the cancellation of plans for mass production of the all-electric Lanzador, the Urus remains Lamborghini’s only model capable of seating four or more passengers. The new Urus will be revealed via a live broadcast on Lamborghini’s official website and YouTube channel on 1 July.
