BYD Qin Max saloon announced – the largest in the family

As is typical for BYD, the new four-door saloon will be offered with either hybrid or electric powertrains. Sales are scheduled to begin in August.
The Qin is a family of affordable BYD saloons belonging to the Dynasty line-up. Currently, the hybrid four-door BYD Qin Plus and BYD Qin L are sold in the home market, along with their electric versions. In spring, it emerged that the family would be joined by the BYD Qin Max: its certification was then entered into the database of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Now, the manufacturer has released official images of the Max, and the saloon has already been shown to Chinese journalists and bloggers. According to local media, the new model will hit the domestic market in August.

The company itself positions the Qin Max as a youthful model, although its design is quite conservative. The only real standout features are the 'gills' in the front bumper. The saloon features elongated headlights, united by a rather substantial insert, semi-concealed door handles, and a full-width light bar with an intertwined LED pattern. The BYD Qin Max is equipped with the God's Eye B driver assistance suite, which includes a lidar sensor above the windscreen.

The saloon measures 4866 mm in length, 1880 mm in width, and 1495 mm in height. In terms of length, the Qin Max surpasses all other four-door models in the family (their lengths range from 4720 to 4830 mm). The wheelbase is the same 2820 mm as the electric version of the BYD Qin L (the hybrid 'L' has a wheelbase of 2790 mm). The new model rides on 18-inch wheels.

Inside, there is a two-spoke steering wheel and a two-tier central tunnel. The upper section houses a wireless charging pad, physical buttons, uncovered cupholders, and a small rotary controller for settings. A steering column stalk manages the transmission. The instrument screen is integrated into the dashboard, while the large multimedia tablet is 'attached' to it. On the dashboard, beside the passenger seat, there is also a mount for a selfie camera.

The list of equipment also includes a cool box integrated into the central armrest, a head-up display, and heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats.

The BYD Qin Max will be offered as either a hybrid or a full electric vehicle. According to Chinese media, the first variant features a 1.5-litre petrol engine (101 hp), a 238 hp electric motor, and a battery with a capacity of approximately 25.3 or 34.3 kWh. The electric version will be available with a motor producing 163 or 326 hp and a battery pack of 52.3 or 64.3 kWh.
All details about the Qin Max will be revealed after its August premiere.
