Motocross in Obninsk sets new record

The 20th anniversary motocross event for the SINTEC Group prizes kicked off a grand festive weekend celebrating Obninsk's anniversary. Last weekend, the competition roared to life with a perfect 10 out of 10, drawing over 3,000 fans and motosport enthusiasts – the best attendance figures in several years.
The races in Russia's first science city brought together more than 130 top-class athletes from over 10 cities and regions across Russia. Residents and visitors alike will remember the motocross for its blistering speeds and relentless battles from the start to the chequered flag. Excellent weather and a packed programme, carefully prepared by the organisers, ensured record-breaking attendance. Obninsk's mayor, Stefan Perevalov, congratulated participants and guests ahead of the city's approaching 70th birthday and the start of the competition.
Riders of all ages showcased their skills on the track, with the youngest competitor being just five years old. While the athletes fought it out for supremacy, fans happily rode quad bikes, enjoyed free field kitchen fare and barbecues, and cheered on the racers with fierce enthusiasm.

By the end of the competitive programme at the ABZ track, riders from the Takayama moto team dominated decisively, securing six podium places:
- Dmitry Zhmylev (Mytishchi) took first place and came second in the OPEN under-35 class and in the Chinese motorcycle races (125-350cc)
- In the junior class (ages 14-18, 125cc), Daniil Shamshin (Mytishchi) won silver, and Timofey Biryukov (Murom) took bronze
- Maxim Mikheikin (Bryansk) brought the team another podium finish in the OPEN under-35 class

Pure adrenaline, insane speeds, spectacular jumps and landings, along with the entire festive atmosphere on and off the ABZ track, have been captured in epic video and photo reports right from the trackside.
