Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 crossover ready for market launch

According to preliminary data, the electric SUV from Volkswagen will be offered in a single-motor configuration. The model will go on sale before the end of this year.
The first showing of the production-ready electric crossover Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 took place in April. This, as a reminder, is one of the many latest models from the German brand, created specifically for China with the preferences of the local audience in mind. The joint venture FAW Volkswagen is responsible for the production of the ID.Aura T6 itself. The certificate for the production SUV appeared in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology at the beginning of July, after which the joint venture showcased the crossover's interior. And today, China has opened the acceptance of "blind" orders, meaning without yet announcing all specifications and prices. However, FAW Volkswagen has nevertheless shared new details about the equipment.





The ID.Aura T6 SUV is built on the CEA platform with an 800-volt architecture, which was developed in collaboration with Xpeng. Its length is 4811 mm, width – 1879 mm, height – 1648 mm, and wheelbase – 2836 mm. The boot volume is 576 litres, with an additional compartment of 90 litres under the bonnet lid.

The crossover has a typical appearance for modern models aimed at China. The VW ID.Aura T6 features two-tier headlights, a glass roof, semi-concealed door handles and a full-width light bar. The upper sections of the daytime running lights are additionally connected by a glowing strip. 19- or 20-inch wheels are available. Of course, the model's arsenal also includes an autopilot with a lidar above the windscreen (it is 192-line).


In the five-seat cabin, there is a minimalist front panel with an integrated 10.25-inch instrument display and a "floating" 15.6-inch multimedia tablet. There are almost no physical buttons. The crossover also gets a two-spoke steering wheel and a two-tier central tunnel, the upper part of which houses a wireless charging pad and exposed cup holders.




The seats feature heating, ventilation and massage functions; the front passenger seat can additionally have a fold-out footrest, plus a table built into its backrest. The equipment list for the Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 also includes: an AI-based assistant, an augmented reality head-up display, and an audio system with 18 speakers. Finally, there is a V2L function that allows the vehicle's energy to be used to power external electrical devices.

The VW ID.Aura T6 crossover is certified with a single 231-horsepower electric motor. It is likely mounted on the rear axle. Information about the battery is still unavailable.
A full presentation of the new electric crossover from FAW Volkswagen will take place in the near future. The model will go on sale before the end of this year.
