На российский рынок готовится выйти кроссовер Geely EX5 с новой техникой

The Chinese marque intends to launch a version on the Russian market with the suffix EM-R added to the name, which is equipped with a series hybrid powertrain of the range extended type.

On the domestic market, the fully electric SUV from Geely appeared in July 2024, where it is sold under the name Galaxy E5. In Russia, the model was decided to be offered under its export name – Geely EX5, which reached dealers in March 2025. In November of the same year, the family was expanded with the addition of the Geely EX5 EM-i variant, which is equipped with a parallel-series hybrid system. It is worth noting that this modification has a twin produced under the Belarusian marque Belgee – the X80 PHEV.

Now the local Geely office intends to expand the family with another version of the crossover – the EX5 EM-R. This variant is equipped with a series hybrid REEV (Range Extended Electric Vehicle) powertrain. It comprises a 99-horsepower naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine, which has no mechanical connection to the wheels and serves to drive a generator in order to recharge the traction lithium-iron-phosphate battery.

The battery capacity has not yet been disclosed by the company; it is known that it can be charged from a domestic AC mains supply, as well as from DC charging stations, with the latter option requiring just 20 minutes to recharge from 30 to 80%. The internal combustion engine works in tandem with the E-DHT transmission and an electric motor producing 218 hp (maximum torque – 262 Nm). Such an SUV takes 8.1 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h. The driving range will likely be announced at a later date.

The Geely EX5 EM-R is based on the modular GEA (Global Electric Architecture) platform. The model's aerodynamic drag coefficient Cx is 0.288: the crossover features specially developed alloy wheels, a streamlined body, a front bumper with low aerodynamic resistance, and a flat underbody without protruding elements.

The interior of the announced newcomer can be trimmed in two colour options – either dark blue or light brown eco-leather. In front of the driver sits a two-spoke steering wheel with a flattened rim, and behind it is a virtual instrument cluster with a 10.2-inch diagonal. The front fascia also houses the touchscreen for the infotainment system, with a diagonal of 15.4 inches. The SUV also comes with a Flyme Sound audio system featuring 16 speakers and a subwoofer.

The boot capacity of the Geely EX5 EM-R is 528 litres, and with the rear seats folded down, the cargo space can be increased to 2,065 litres. In addition, roof rails are provided – the maximum permissible load is 50 kg, and the cabin features various storage compartments for small items.

The Geely EX5 EM-R is equipped with active safety systems and an ADAS driver assistance suite, which includes a forward collision avoidance system, intelligent cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and so on. Information regarding the trim levels and pricing of the new hybrid version in Russia will be announced at a later date.
