On 22 June, we learned from the official NIO brand that its large SUV—the NIO ES8 (parameters | price) five-seat version—will open for pre-orders on 28 June. At the same time, display cars will also arrive at NIO stores across the country in stages. For context, the current NIO ES8 offers six-seat and seven-seat versions, with three configurations in total, priced between 406,800 and 446,800 RMB. If you opt for the battery leasing scheme, the price range is 298,800 to 338,800 RMB.

According to the official preview released this time, the car adopts a 2+3 five-seat layout, and it is expected that the overall configuration level and interior design will remain consistent with the current model. To put it simply, the seats feature diamond-pattern detailing for added embellishment, giving the overall look a refined feel. Meanwhile, from the perspective of the boot, the car is equipped with a removable parcel shelf, making the overall storage space more impressive compared to the current (six/seven-seat) version.

At present, the official source has not revealed its overall exterior, which is expected to remain the same as the current model. For reference, the car adopts the latest family design language and adds a front boot design with a capacity of 230 litres, a maximum opening width of 915mm, and a maximum depth of 503mm, capable of holding two 20-inch suitcases and two backpacks. Its static load capacity is 80-100kg, and its dynamic load capacity is up to 50kg. Meanwhile, the current (six/seven-seat) version has a standard boot volume of 547 litres (including 132 litres of underfloor storage space), and depending on different seat configurations, the maximum storage space can be expanded to 3,240 litres. In terms of dimensions, the car measures 5,280mm in length, 2,010mm in width, and 1,800mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130mm, and is positioned as a large SUV.

In terms of performance, the all-new NIO ES8 uses a full-domain 900V high-voltage platform. It is equipped with a front 180kW induction motor and a rear 340kW silicon carbide permanent magnet motor, delivering a combined maximum power of 520kW and peak torque of 700 Nm, with a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3.97 seconds. The power battery capacity is 102kWh, offering a range of 635km, and it also supports 6.6kW external discharge functionality. Additionally, the all-new NIO ES8 is fitted with a dual-chamber air suspension system that offers a high degree of adjustability, supporting a range from -50mm to +50mm. In its standard position, the minimum ground clearance is 165mm; when lowered to the minimum, the second-row floor height is 380mm, making it easier to get in and out. It also has a maximum wading depth of 650mm. The new car also provides a new generation of externally valved CDC dampers. It is worth noting that the car features NIO's pioneering 4D full-domain comfortable navigation, with intelligent slope levelling functionality, and boasts a minimum turning radius of 5.7 metres.
