Opimobility appoints Seong Min-seok as Korea Chairman… strengthening Asian leadership
OPmobility, a sustainable mobility company, has announced the creation of a new role of Chairperson Korea and the appointment of Minseok Sung, formerly Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at SK On, to the position. This newly established role reflects the growing importance of the Korean market within OPmobility's innovation roadmap and forms part of its strategy to diversify across regions, technologies, and customers.
Chairperson Sung is an expert with approximately 30 years of experience in the global automotive industry. He began his career in the mid-1990s as a product development engineer at Ford Motor Company in the United States. He later served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Hanon Systems before becoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a role he held until 2023. Most recently, as Chief Commercial Officer at SK On, he oversaw business development, global joint ventures and partnerships, and operational performance.
As Chairperson Korea, Minseok Sung will oversee all of OPmobility's domestic operations in South Korea, strengthen collaboration with local original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and support the group's long-term growth strategy. He will also play a key role in supporting and enhancing cooperation with Hyundai Mobis in relation to the ongoing project to acquire a stake in Hyundai Mobis' lamp business.
OPmobility has been operating in South Korea since 1992 and currently runs six production plants. It supplies technologies including exterior systems, complex modules, energy storage systems, battery and hydrogen electrification solutions to both Korean and global OEMs. This long-standing business foundation demonstrates OPmobility's commitment to supporting its Korean customers with advanced solutions for the future of mobility.
