Cybertruck is the lightest and most efficient Tesla model... maximum output of 222 bhp
A robotaxi refers to a vehicle that provides driverless taxi services by achieving Level 4 autonomous driving according to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards. Currently, mobility companies such as Waymo, Cruise, and Tesla are competing to take the lead in this market.
Amidst this, some detailed specifications of the 'CyberCab', a dedicated model that electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla plans to mass-produce for its robotaxi business, have been revealed. These specifications were disclosed not through an official Tesla announcement, but via official documents submitted to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for mass-production vehicle certification.
According to the disclosed documents, the CyberCab's kerb weight is 1,410 kg, making it the lightest among all mass-produced cars Tesla has released to date. This is approximately 317 kg lighter than the Model 3, a compact executive saloon. The powertrain features a single electric motor on the front axle, delivering a maximum output of around 222 horsepower. The vehicle is equipped with a 48 kWh lithium-ion battery, supporting a maximum charging output of up to 53 kW. Based on the EPA submission data, the combined driving range is confirmed to be approximately 462 km; however, if regulatory correction factors are subsequently applied, the actual certified driving range may be shorter.
As previewed when the concept car was unveiled, the CyberCab is designed on the premise of autonomous driving, featuring only two seats, with the steering wheel and pedals removed. Tesla is reported to have already begun initial mass production of the CyberCab at its Giga Factory in Austin, Texas, since February 2026.
Tesla plans to use the CyberCab to develop its robotaxi business. Customers wishing to use the service can hail a vehicle via a dedicated iOS or Android robotaxi application. Passengers can control convenience features such as cabin temperature, seat position adjustment, and music streaming through an in-vehicle display. These settings are saved to the passenger's unique profile and will be automatically applied in the same way when hailing another robotaxi in the future.
Currently, the robotaxi pilot service is being provided first in certain areas of Texas, where the CyberCab is produced. Operating hours are from 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM the following day. The robotaxi service currently in operation is based on the 'Model Y', the most popular model in Tesla's lineup.
