Toyota Corolla Sport hatchback gets updates and anniversary special edition

A special edition, which has been given a lengthy name extension – 60th Anniversary G «Z Active Elegance» – has already gone on sale in the domestic market. The price is known.

Japanese company Toyota is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the flagship model of the Corolla family this month. Special editions have previously appeared for various modifications, including the Corolla Cross crossover, and now it is the turn of the hatchback – the Toyota Corolla Sport. The company timed the launch of this anniversary special edition to coincide with the modest updates that the five-door model received for the new model year.

So, the company decided to refresh the standard hatchback with a set of two-tone 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels, fitted with new 225/40R18 tyres. In addition, the list of updates includes new colour options for the body palette: solid dark blue metallic and black, while the two-tone options include white with a black roof and red with a black roof.

The anniversary special edition of the Toyota Corolla Sport has been given a lengthy name extension – 60th Anniversary G «Z Active Elegance». This version is available either in an all-black body colour, or a two-tone finish – white with a black roof, or an exclusive bright yellow (mustard) with a black gloss roof (as seen in the official photos). On both front wings, the special edition features badges with the inscription 60th Anniversary, written in a distinctive thin font and enclosed in a rectangle.

Changes have also been made to the interior of the Toyota Corolla Sport 60th Anniversary G «Z Active Elegance». This hatchback gets a dashboard trimmed in artificial leather, featuring an emblem of the anniversary special edition. The five-door model also receives sports front seats, upholstered in a combination of genuine leather and eco-leather in a black and beige colour scheme. Additionally, the interior features silver decorative inserts, and aluminium pedal covers are provided.

The 'heart' of the celebratory version is standard, referring to a hybrid setup based on a 98-horsepower 1.8-litre naturally aspirated engine 2ZR-FXE (maximum torque – 142 Nm). It works in tandem with a small traction battery and an electric motor, which delivers 95 hp (185 Nm).

The anniversary special edition Corolla Sport 60th Anniversary G «Z Active Elegance» has already gone on sale in the domestic market. The price for this version is 3,438,000 yen (equivalent to approximately 1.62 million roubles at the current exchange rate). In comparison, purchasing the current 'just' G «Z» trim will cost 3,220,200 yen (about 1.52 million roubles), while the starting refreshed G «X» version is priced at no less than 2,531,600 yen (about 1.19 million roubles).

Meanwhile, last week it was announced that the updated Toyota Aqua hatchback has brought back the sporty GR Sport version. This model receives visual changes, different seats and interior décor, new 17-inch alloy wheels, and red brake calipers with the Gazoo Racing logo.
