From 15 to 16 July local time, the biennial Australasia Bus & Coach Expo 2026 was held at the Sydney Olympic Park exhibition centre. As one of the most influential professional exhibitions in the Australian public transport and coach industry, this year’s event brought together over a hundred vehicle manufacturers and supply chain providers, showcasing the latest technological achievements and development trends in the field of public transport.

BYD made a strong appearance at Booth 172 with a massive 563.5-square-metre stand, unveiling three fully electric buses measuring 7 metres, 10 metres, and 12 metres. The product line-up comprehensively covers a range of operational scenarios, including point-to-point shuttle services, transport in remote areas, and urban public transport, offering the Australian market richer and more efficient green mobility solutions.

Among them, BYD’s new 12-metre fully electric bus became the centrepiece of the exhibition. Developed specifically to meet the needs of the Australian market, this model builds on the proven 12-metre platform, featuring an all-aluminium lightweight body design, a full suite of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and a more user-friendly driving control system. It delivers comprehensive upgrades in safety, reliability, operational efficiency, and the overall driving and riding experience. Thanks to its leading product performance and locally tailored design philosophy, the bus attracted a steady stream of public transport operators, industry experts, and bus enthusiasts who stopped by for a closer look and in-depth enquiries.

During the expo, representatives from well-known Australian public transport operators such as CDC, Busways, Kinetic, and Metro Tasmania, as well as industry experts from Transport for New South Wales, visited the BYD stand. They engaged in in-depth discussions with Jon Tozer, BYD’s Sales Director for Commercial Vehicles in Australia, covering product technology, operational requirements, and future market development. All parties spoke highly of BYD’s achievements in lightweight design, safety features, and localisation efforts, and expressed strong interest in pursuing broader and deeper collaboration in the future.

Looking ahead, BYD will continue to deepen its presence in the Australian market, driven by technological innovation to upgrade its products, and steadily refine its localised product portfolio. The company aims to provide safer, more efficient, and smarter new energy solutions for Australia’s green and low-carbon transformation of public transport, working hand in hand with partners to promote high-quality and sustainable development in the public transport industry.
