Kia signs MOU with Korea Disabled People's Association to improve mobility rights for the transport disadvantaged

Kia has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Disabled People's Association (hereinafter referred to as KDPA) to collaborate on improving mobility convenience for the transportation vulnerable, utilising the 'Kia PV5 WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, hereinafter PV5 WAV)'.

The signing ceremony took place at Kia's brand experience centre, Kia360 (located in Apgujeong-dong, Seoul), attended by Kia's Executive Vice President and Head of Domestic Business, Wonjeong Jeong, and KDPA's Central President, Jaeyeon Hwang, along with other officials.

The PV5 WAV is a model derived from the PV5, Kia's first dedicated PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle), reflecting the company's commitment to enhancing mobility convenience for the transportation vulnerable.

To ensure convenient and safe travel for wheelchair users, it is the first domestic electric vehicle to feature a side-entry system, which significantly improves the ease and safety of boarding and alighting for the transportation vulnerable compared to conventional methods.

Kia will donate one PV5 WAV vehicle to the KDPA and offer a discount of 500,000 won per vehicle to individual members and organisations (including associations, branches, and welfare centres) affiliated with the KDPA when purchasing a PV5 WAV or Passenger model.

Additionally, Kia will use the PV5 WAV to operate promotional visits and test drive experiences for individual members and organisations of the KDPA nationwide. It also plans to run PV5 WAV booths and provide vehicle experience opportunities in connection with large-scale events scheduled for the second half of the year, such as the 'International Disabled Persons' Park Golf Tournament' and the 'National Sports Festival for Persons with Physical Disabilities'.
