Honda Prologue bows out, following in the footsteps of its sibling, the Acura ZDX

The Japanese marque has apparently decided to get rid of the last electric vehicle in its North American model line-up.

In developing the Honda Prologue crossover, intended for North America, the Japanese company was assisted by the American conglomerate General Motors, making its closest relatives the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq (both marques belong to GM). In turn, the Prologue also had a more 'premium' twin – the Acura ZDX, but its market career ended almost as soon as it began: the model debuted in 2023 and was taken off the production line in 2025.

A slightly longer life was enjoyed by the Honda Prologue crossover, which went on sale in 2023, received updates in 2025, yet the current – 2026 – model year will, it seems, be the last for this soft-roader. This is reported by Carbuzz, citing an unnamed representative of Honda's American office. He stated, among other things, that 'Honda will conclude Prologue sales later this year', but customers will continue to receive full dealer support.

The reasons behind the manufacturer's decision to drop the fully electric Honda Prologue crossover evidently lie, in part, in its weak sales. It is worth noting that over 2025, the model's figure stood at 39,194 units, which is 19.1% up on the previous year. One might assume that the increase was influenced by customers' desire to take advantage of federal tax credits before they were consigned to history.

After the credits for those buying electric vehicles were scrapped, Honda Prologue sales plummeted: in December 2025, for instance, US dealers shifted just 932 units, a drop of 88.6% compared with the same month a year earlier. The soft-roader's figures this year also leave much to be desired: over the first half of 2026, it sold 8,407 units across the States, corresponding to a fall of 48.5% compared with January to June last year.

As of today, the Honda Prologue is still listed on the marque's official product website. The soft-roader offers two powertrain options, but there is just one traction battery, with a capacity of 85 kWh. The model is available both with a single 223bhp electric motor mounted on the front axle (maximum torque – 329 Nm), and with all-wheel drive and a dual-motor set-up whose combined output is 304bhp (481 Nm). In the first case, the maximum range on a single charge is 496 km; in the second, it is 455 km (under the EPA cycle).

For the current entry-level version of the Honda Prologue on the American market, the asking price is at least $39,900 (equivalent to roughly 3.13 million roubles at the current exchange rate); purchasing the mid-spec trim will set you back $44,200 (around 3.46 million roubles), while for the top-spec version, the asking price is at least $50,400 (around 3.95 million roubles).

It is worth recalling that the Japanese company previously abandoned several 'green' projects for the States: namely, the development of electric vehicles under the Afeela brand (a joint project with Sony), as well as the production-ready Honda 0 SUV, Honda 0 Saloon and Acura RSX. The manufacturer now intends to focus on hybrids.
