Going Against the Tide in the Electric Era? Maserati Plans to Launch a Flagship Supercar with a Manual Gearbox
Recently, we have learned from relevant sources that Maserati's future flagship supercar may be equipped with a manual gearbox and the Nettuno V6 engine. While most performance car manufacturers are using electronic software to strip away pure driving pleasure, this Italian brand has openly revealed plans to create a new supercar featuring a manual gearbox and pure petrol power.

Several Maserati executives have indicated that this future low-volume flagship model will sit at the very top of the brand's range, and is expected to become the brand's most powerful pure petrol model since the MC12 (parameters | inquiry). This also marks Maserati's return to the manual gearbox supercar segment after decades, following the Bora model from the 1970s.

There are reports that the new car will share some research and development resources with Alfa Romeo, continuing the collaboration between the two Italian car manufacturers. If the project comes to fruition, the core powertrain of the vehicle will undoubtedly be Maserati's Nettuno V6 engine. The company has stated that this engine is the soul of the brand, and while a mild-hybrid version will be introduced in the future, no plug-in hybrid variant will be offered.
