StarTruck launches new 'Arox 4153K single-reduction dump

techBy AutoHive Staff

As the paradigm in domestic construction and aggregate sites shifts from simple performance competition to 'long-term operational stability' and 'total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction', a 25.5-tonne dump truck optimised for Korean sites has been officially unveiled.

StarTruck Korea (CEO Dong Geun-tae), the official importer of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, introduced the new 25.5-tonne tipper model 'The New Arocs Tipper 4153K' on the 10th at the Mercedes-Benz Truck Star Centre in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, which is optimised for the domestic high-load operating environment.

This new model inherits the strengths of the 5th generation tipper 'New Arocs', which has built trust in the market since its launch in 2021, while being designed to respond to the changing domestic high-load tipper market. In particular, it is the result of a three-year local research and development project in which the German headquarters analysed the harsh driving conditions in Korea, enhancing performance for high-load operating environments and operational stability.

Starting with this launch, StarTruck Korea plans to operate a roadshow touring major logistics and construction hubs nationwide, expanding points of contact where actual site customers can experience the vehicle and communicate.

Korean-style high-load design and efficiency crafted with German technology

The New Arocs Tipper 4153K has been optimised from chassis to engine, targeting the operating environment of domestic aggregate and construction sites. The powertrain is equipped with the third-generation OM471 engine, boasting a maximum output of 530 hp and maximum torque of 265 kgf·m (2600 Nm). Additionally, the X-Pulse high-pressure common rail injection system reduces fuel injection quantity and increases durability, achieving both fuel efficiency and durability even in harsh conditions, while delivering power and torque even in low gear ranges. Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz PowerShift 3 (MPS3) transmission, now featuring the new PowerShift Advanced, minimises power loss during gear changes, maximising work efficiency.

The underbody structure incorporates a 41-tonne class heavy-duty design to withstand the impact of high-load work, with reinforced frame rigidity and a stable load distribution structure. Combined with a proven durable single-reduction axle, it supports stable behaviour without chassis twisting even on rough terrain.

The upper tipping system adopts globally recognised HYVA high-strength lightweight cylinders. The 149mm bore cylinder and reinforced cradle structure support stable tipping operations on slopes or uneven surfaces.

Safety and convenience enhanced by sensor fusion technology

For safety on roads and at sites, Mercedes-Benz Trucks' cutting-edge safety technology package has also been introduced.

The 270-degree sensor fusion technology integrates Active Brake Assist 6 (ABA 6), Active Sideguard Assist 2 (ASGA 2), Frontguard Assist (FGA), and Active Distance Assist (AHA) to support the driver. It detects pedestrians and cyclists in blind spots and automatically decelerates and brakes in the event of a collision risk.

Convenience features designed to reduce driver fatigue during long hours of operation are also noteworthy. The second-generation multimedia cockpit interactive system provides an advanced infotainment environment, and premium leather seats with ventilation function are installed, improving driver comfort and the working environment.

Reducing TCO burden with digital solutions and a 5-year unlimited warranty

StarTruck Korea has focused on lowering customers' total cost of ownership (TCO) by combining digital solutions and service programmes that match the completeness of the hardware.

Fleetboard, a real-time connectivity service, analyses vehicle idling time, average fuel consumption, average load weight, and driver driving patterns to provide individual reports. Active use of this can achieve up to a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency, as well as reduced maintenance costs and accident prevention.

In the service sector, a dedicated contract programme for tipper customers called 'StarCare 5+ Tipper' is being introduced. It covers key items necessary for vehicle maintenance, including regular inspections, engine oil and filter changes, as well as HYVA filter changes. In particular, it offers a '5-year, unlimited mileage warranty' for the driveline and components, the core driving parts of dump trucks that frequently operate on rough terrain.
