Nissan Dayz receives several updates and brings back a couple of special editions

The prices of the refreshed compact cars launched on the domestic market have already been announced. The entry-level compact starts at no less than 1,500,400 yen.

The Nissan Dayz and its twin, the Mitsubishi eK, have been in production since 2001, manufactured at the joint venture NMKV (Nissan Mitsubishi Kei Vehicle) facilities. As a reminder, this duo was at the centre of the fuel economy scandal that erupted in 2016, which ultimately led to Mitsubishi joining the Renault-Nissan alliance. The current generation of these compacts debuted in 2019, and they received a facelift in autumn 2023.

Now, the Japanese brand has revealed some additional updates for the current kei car, the Nissan Dayz. It is reported that the car's safety has been enhanced through improvements to the intelligent emergency braking function, which now utilises a wider horizontal field of view from the front camera. The compact also gains a rear-seat reminder function for passengers.

Furthermore, the refreshed model now features a USB Type-C port at the front, along with two new two-tone paint options for the body – white with a light brown roof, and pearl with a light green roof. Additionally, on all two-tone variants, the door handles are now finished in the same colour as the car's roof.

The hatchback continues to be offered in two versions – the standard model and the so-called 'youth-oriented' version, which adds 'Highway Star' to its name. The Nissan Dayz retains the same 660cc naturally aspirated engine producing 52 bhp, plus a turbocharged version with 64 bhp. In addition, there is a starter-generator that delivers 2.7 bhp and assists during the first few seconds of acceleration. It is paired with an Xtronic CVT gearbox, and drive is either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

The prices of the refreshed compacts are already known: on the domestic market, the entry-level version starts at no less than 1,500,400 yen (equivalent to approximately 716,000 roubles at the current exchange rate). The top-spec front-wheel-drive variant costs 1,964,600 yen (around 938,000 roubles). Purchasing an all-wheel-drive model will set you back between 1,677,500 and 2,140,600 yen, i.e., roughly 800,000 to 1.02 million roubles.

Also today, 27th July 2026, the company announced the start of sales for the returning special editions prepared by Nissan Motorsports & Customize. These are the Nissan Dayz Highway Star Urban Chrome and the Dayz Bolero. The former features a different front-end design, a number of chrome decorative inserts, including on the side panels, silver exterior mirror caps, unique 15-inch aluminium alloy wheels, and seats in the cabin upholstered with water-repellent materials. A new colour option has been added to the palette: a titanium grey body with a black roof.

In turn, the Nissan Dayz Bolero offers various body colour options, for example, a pink lower half, black roof pillars, a white upper section, and door handles and exterior mirror caps in the same white colour. Meanwhile, on the single-tone body variants (which now include black), the door handles and mirror caps are painted in the same white colour as the exclusive 14-inch alloy wheels. The interior is finished in beige and pink shades.

The Nissan Dayz Highway Star Urban Chrome currently starts from 1,811,700 to 2,217,600 yen in Japan (around 870,000 to 1.06 million roubles), while the version with the 'Bolero' suffix ranges from 1,653,300 to 1,830,400 yen (approximately 789,000 to 874,000 roubles).

As a reminder, last spring Nissan unveiled the updated kei car, the Sakura, which is a fully electric version of the Dayz.
