Buying the Voyah Free / Free Sport+: what is this car and what makes it interesting

Over the past few years, the Russian automotive market has changed beyond recognition. Along with it, perceptions of what a modern premium car should be have also shifted. Today, buyers are increasingly interested in future technologies, levels of comfort and the greater range of features they get for their money.

Centre stage is taken by the signature rising panel with three 12.3-inch screens. After the car is started, the displays rise smoothly, turning an ordinary journey into a genuine technological spectacle.

The upholstery uses the finest soft eco-leather, almost indistinguishable from the real thing, Alcantara and high-quality plastics. Buyers can choose from three interior schemes: black, light grey and ivory. However, the cabin's greatest asset lies not only in the materials. The Free Sport+ offers a level of equipment that, just a few years ago, was considered the preserve of cars in a significantly higher price bracket.

The crossover boasts a panoramic roof with a sunroof and electric blind, ambient lighting with numerous shades, multi-zone climate control, heated, ventilated and massaging seats. The front seats feature electric adjustment and memory settings, while acoustic comfort is ensured by double-glazed windows and carefully considered sound insulation.

The suite of electronic driver aids deserves particular attention. At the driver's disposal are adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping and collision-avoidance systems, a surround-view camera, automatic parking assist, blind-spot monitoring and a whole host of assistants working discreetly in the background. The car supports remote control via the Russian Voyah mobile app, and many functions can be updated over the air.

Power in the service of comfort

That said, the flagship status of the Sport+ version is determined not only by its level of equipment. The main innovation is an upgraded hybrid powertrain. The output of the rear electric motor has risen to 292 hp, while the system's combined output reaches 510 hp. The powertrain also includes a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 150 hp, which acts as a generator, and a 218 hp front electric motor.

Even on paper, such figures look impressive, yet the car's character is even more surprising. The sprint to 100 km/h takes just 4.8 seconds, but the Free Sport+ does not try to turn every journey into a demonstration of the powertrain's capabilities. On the contrary, all that power is deployed primarily in the service of comfort. Electric drive is available instantly: no delays, no gear changes and no waiting for the engine to reach the right revs.

Fast, but not harsh

The engineers have managed to preserve another important quality of the model – a fine balance between comfort and handling. The air suspension copes confidently with uneven surfaces, smooths out joints and does not force passengers to count the patches in the asphalt. At the same time, the crossover remains composed and predictable through corners. All-wheel drive makes effective use of the powertrain's capabilities, while a slight rear bias makes the car's responses more lively.

It is also important that the Sport+ does not try to appear sportier than it actually is. Many modern cars attempt to artificially weight up the steering and simulate the sound of a powerful engine, turning every drive into a little performance. Voyah takes a different path: sport mode does sharpen the responses, but it does not change the car's character. It simply becomes faster – and that proves quite enough.

A hybrid without compromise

The hybrid architecture allows impressive dynamics to be combined with practicality. The traction battery has a capacity of 43 kWh, the electric-only range reaches 175 kilometres, and the total driving range exceeds a thousand kilometres. For the owner, this means being able to enjoy the benefits of an electric vehicle on daily routes without worrying about finding a charging station on longer journeys.

Maximum equipment with no extras

The status of the No.1 automotive premium brand is not built on a single successful decision or a set of headline figures. In Voyah's case, it is about a combination of qualities that are rarely found in one car at the same time: a powerful hybrid powertrain, thoughtfully considered equipment, a high level of comfort and modern technology.

It is precisely this approach that allowed Voyah, at the end of the first half of 2026, to take first place in the premium segment among all cars, both those officially represented in Russia and those imported via parallel imports. Over six months, 7,810 models were sold – almost three times more than a year earlier. Moreover, at the end of June, the brand topped the premium segment of the Russian car market for the third consecutive month.

Incidentally, all Voyah models sold through the official dealer network come with a five-year or 100,000-kilometre warranty. In addition, the full range of services under the 'Voyah – Roadside Assistance' programme is available, including emergency technical assistance on the road and recovery to the nearest brand dealership in the event of an accident or any other unforeseen circumstances.

The Voyah Free Sport+ crossover is offered in a single, fully loaded specification. Buyers can benefit from a discount under the state support programme of up to 925,000 roubles, but no more than 35% of the car's price. Thus, the model's price, taking into account current support programmes and special offers, starts from 5,100,000 roubles.
