1:49.434! Xiaomi YU7 GT Sets First Autonomous Driving Lap Record at Zhejiang Circuit

techBy AutoHive Staff

Recently, Xiaomi Auto officially announced the birth of the first autonomous driving lap record at the Zhejiang International Circuit. The record was set by the Xiaomi YU7 (Parameters | Inquiry) GT, which previously set the Nürburgring Nordschleife autonomous driving lap record, with a lap time of 1 minute 49.434 seconds. This result is only 6.05 seconds slower than the manned lap time of the Xiaomi YU7 Max.

Currently, the significance of autonomous driving on racetracks lies in applying the understanding of complex driving conditions to everyday scenarios. Xiaomi Auto stated that the dynamic models, high-frequency torque distribution, and millisecond-level vehicle recovery capabilities honed on extreme tracks will ultimately be iterated into subsequent intelligent driving products and gradually deployed to every ordinary user's production vehicle. Xiaomi Auto's ultimate goal is to ensure that when users encounter extreme conditions such as heavy rain, water accumulation, or icy and snowy roads during daily driving, the vehicle's chassis and intelligent driving system can make correct decisions like a resident "ghost professional racing driver," bringing the vehicle back within controllable range.

Previously, Xiaomi announced the autonomous driving lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, achieved by the Xiaomi YU7 GT (equipped with the track professional package) using Xiaomi's self-developed autonomous driving system. The vehicle completed the official Nürburgring timed lap in a fully unmanned state, with a time of 10 minutes 29.483 seconds.

Currently, the Xiaomi YU7 series has launched five models: Standard Edition, Long Range Edition, Pro Edition, Max Edition, and GT Edition, with prices ranging from 233,500 to 389,900 RMB. Among them, the GT version is equipped with a new V8s EVO rear motor paired with a front motor, delivering a combined maximum power of 1,003 horsepower. It features a 101.7 kWh battery pack and offers a CLTC range of up to 705 kilometers.
